The leader in the foldable phone market has changed
According to a new market research, Huawei has taken the first place in the foldable competition, reaching more than 50 percent market share in the first half of this year. In addition, it should be noted that this success took place during the period when the sanctions against Huawei, especially 5G, continued. Moreover, while Samsung continues to lead in the western market, there is more serious competition in China with brands such as Vivo, Honor, Oppo and Xiaomi.
As you know, Huawei, which is on its way to becoming the world’s largest technology company, has received significant blows in the market due to US sanctions. So much so that many countries have restricted Huawei equipment in 5G or telecommunications networks, and the company has been banned from using US technologies. Today, these restrictions have begun to ease and Huawei continues its investments, especially its own 5G chip.
The second brand on the list after Huawei was Oppo. In addition, Samsung, one of the leading names in the market, comes in third place, followed by Vivo. Honor, Xiaomi and Motorola took the fifth, sixth and seventh places of the list, respectively. In addition, the new report revealed that the foldable phone market in China has grown by 72 percent year on year. Thus, we can say that mainstream phones are now shifting towards foldable devices.
