Honor answered that question about the Magic V, the first foldable smartphone produced under its own brand. In previous leaks, it was claimed that the device would be released under the name “Magic Fold”. However, the Chinese company announced that it named its foldable phone Magic V in its Weibo account in December. Now, the introduction date of the device has been announced.
Honor Magic V arrives on January 10
Today, the company announced that the Honor Magic V will be introduced on January 10 at 7:30 p.m. Chinese time. The poster, shared by Honor on its official Weibo account, reveals that the upcoming smartphone will have a silver vertical hinge structure. There is also a triple camera module with a vertical LED flash placed in the upper left corner on the back.
Honor said that the Magic V will not have a clamshell hinge structure like the Galaxy Z Flip3 or Moto Razr models. Instead, he shared that it will come with a book-like folding design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3. Honor CEO Zhao Ming stated that they use a special hinge, which is claimed to be the thinnest in the industry.
Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor
According to the leaked information, Honor Magic V will come with an 8-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch external display. It is also said that the company uses panels produced by BOE and Visionox companies. Known to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor introduced by Qualcomm in December, the Magic V will have 66W fast charging support and a 50 Megapixel main camera.
The smartphone, which is expected to come out of the box with Android 12, will come preloaded with the company’s self-developed user interface. It is estimated that Honor will also announce Magic UI 6.0, the new version of its Android-based interface, at the same event as its foldable phone.
