The Last of Us Part I was a huge success in 2013 when it was released on PlayStation 4 and won more than 200 Game of the Year awards. The game’s story, characters, atmosphere and gameplay were praised by critics and gamers alike.
As the The Last of Us series has been eagerly awaited and demanded by PC players for a long time, Naughty Dog and PlayStation PC LLC announced that The Last of Us Part I will be released for PC in a surprise at the beginning of 2023. The game is available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and some extra content is offered to those who pre-order.
But we all know what happened at his exit: Joel forgot his gun in the toilet.
The PC version of the game included PC-exclusive quality-to-life improvements such as AMD FSR 2.2 support, Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution support, VSync and framerate limit options, adjustable Texture Quality, Shadows, Reflections, Ambient Occlusion, and more.
The release of the game for PC was quite problematic. On the first day of the game, many players reported that they had to compile shaders for hours to get the game to start, the game had poor performance, the framerate was choppy, they had sound issues, and the game crashed frequently. User comments on the game’s Steam page also reflected these issues. The game is currently rated Mixed on Steam, with only 55% positive out of over 10,000 reviews.
Naughty Dog brought the first major update to the Steam version of the game:
Naughty Dog has released a series of updates for the game, taking into account the feedback from the players. Finally, on March 30, 2023, an update numbered v1.0.1.6 came to the Steam version of the game.
With this update, it was stated that some improvements were made in the performance and stability of the game. Additionally, additional crash diagnostic information has been added to investigate shader compilation related and other commonly reported crash issues. But it wasn’t enough, so a bigger one had to come.
Indeed, that big patch has arrived. In this big patch, many more minor issues have been fixed, the game’s underperformance problem has been fixed. But the players are still not satisfied.
It is stated that in the update in question, light flickers, controller unresponsiveness, overlay and animation problems and many more problems have been resolved. But it seems that they were not very satisfactory. Because there are players who say that the problems still continue.
