The KERKES project, which enables unmanned aerial vehicles to operate even without access to GPS, has been completed. Thanks to the KERKES project, mini UAVs will be able to fly without being affected by electronic warfare threats that disrupt GPS.

President of the Presidency of Defense Industry İsmail Demir stated that the acceptance of the KERKES project developed by the domestic defense industry company STM has been completed. UAVs in the TAF inventory will now perform missions without being affected by enemy electronic warfare threats such as GPS blunting.

How does KERKES work?

Developed for micro and mini-class UAVs, KERKES makes a location estimation by processing the data and images taken from the sensors on the UAV in cases where there is no connection to GPS and GNSS technologies. With artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques, it can detect targets and hit the target.

The UAV, which started its mission with the map loaded thanks to the system, successfully fulfills its mission without the need for GPS by comparing the map with the data obtained from the field. It can be used day and night.
