The Car Wheel Galaxy is located 500 million light years from Earth
The Cartwheel Galaxy was discovered in 1941 by Swiss astronomer Fritz Zwicky. Named The Cartwheel Galaxy by Fritz, the planet is about 500 million light-years from Earth. The reason why the planet is given this name comes from the collision of two spiral galaxies and resembles the wheels of two chariots. NASA’s James Webb Telescope Twitter account made a post explaining the finding. “Time to reinvent the wheel,” he joked in the post.

The final image captured by the James Webb Space Telescope shows two small spiral galaxies on the left and a large, pink, speckled sky candidate resembling a wheel. Until now, it was difficult to get information about this galaxy due to its low observation power.
All that was known about the galaxy was that there was a small spiral galaxy at its centre. Apart from this, it was known that there were layers of different colors around it. In addition to these, the agency shared another photo of the same galaxy. The reason for this sharing is to show that the two images were taken by different vehicles.
In the image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, blue, yellow and orange colors are dominant. Images from the James Webb Space Telescope show that the celestial body is just in transit. In addition, scientists aim to reach various information about the history of the galaxy thanks to these new images.
