Apple, instead of the C1 chip developed in the iPhone 17 series, MediaTek will use the 5G Wi-Fi chip. Compared to the report of The Information, the company will make an unexpected choice in the new series while the company moves away from Qualcomm.
We still don’t know much about Apple’s C1 chip. Although the company has used this chip on the iPhone 16E, its plans for the iPhone 17 are different.
Addiction to Qualcomm ends
In addition, Apple’s C1 chip is not completely shelved and plans to use at least one iPad in 2026. The main purpose of the company is to integrate a new chip, which is thought to be C2 in the future, into the iPhone 18 series.
The company aims to leave Qualcomm behind with its own modem technology until the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027. It also aims to add reinforcement to satellite networks and create an integrated portable component by combining the 5G modem with the main processor.
How much of the C1 chip is integrated into the Apple ecosystem came to the agenda with another report. Compared to Reuters, the company’s new chip has the capacity to choose the most adequate relationship with the use of AirDrop or web ride.
