For a while, it has been talked about that the physical keys in the iPhone 15 series will be completely abandoned and replaced by solid-state buttons. However, some later leaks claimed that Apple gave up on it.
A new claim published hints that Apple can use both solid-state buttons and physical buttons in the iPhone 15 Pro design.
In a leak shared by a user named @analyst941 on Twitter, it is claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will have a different shutdown method.
Furthermore, within the camera app, the action button (formally; mute switch) will replace the volume up button for taking a photo.
Action button use in Camera:
– Light press: auto-focuses the camera
– Hard press: captures photo
– Hard, Long-hold press: captures/records video

The leaker says that the iPhone 15 Pro will use a combination of Power button + Action button to turn off the device or force restart it. Rumors of a customizable Action button for the iPhone have surfaced in recent weeks, suggesting the new button will replace the existing Mute switch. The leaker suggests that the Action button will do more work than turning off the device. He claims that this will happen thanks to its capacitive structure and depending on the pressure power. This can cause both physical and solid state buttons to be present on the device. At least the Action button can be touch and pressure sensitive.
According to their tweets, users will be able to lightly press the action button to trigger autofocus, hard-press to click an image, and hard-press to record a video. Apple also included an orange Action button on the Watch Ultra that can be programmed to do different things, like start a stopwatch. Now it looks like it will bring a similar one to iPhones.
