The codes in the iOS 17 RC version released for developers yesterday revealed that Apple has developed a new feature that allows users to limit the maximum charge to better protect battery health. When Apple offers this option, it will be accessible from the battery settings menu.
iPhone 15 will charge within the specified limit
When this feature is turned off, the iPhone will receive a notification stating that the device will charge to full capacity. When the feature is on, the iPhone will show a notification stating that the battery will be charged to the specified percentage. From the settings, you can see when the iPhone was last charged to the limit set by the user. This feature works similarly to Optimized Battery Charging, but the new option will always limit charging to a certain battery level.
Since the iPhone 15 has not been released yet, it is not known whether this feature will be turned on by default. It is estimated that the new option will be limited to iPhone 15 models with USB-C, as it is found in iOS 17 RC codes and not seen on iPhone 14 models. The final version of iOS 17 will be released on September 18. iPhone 15 release date is; 29 September.
