READING NOW The innovation of WhatsApp, which has been in the testing phase for a while, is live for everyone.

According to the announcement made by WhatsApp via a tweet, after it was previewed in beta last April , options for Profile Photo, About, Status and Last Seen settings have been rolled out, offering more privacy control. Until now, there was an option to only block these settings for Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody, but with the new update, “My Contacts Except ” option is added, which offers much more detailed control.

The “Last Seen” status can be seen as a particular privacy hazard, as it shows when someone last checked the app. This provides a way to find out if someone has potentially seen your message, even if the read receipt is turned off. The new feature allows you to turn this feature off for certain people and also block Profile Photo, About and Status for individual users.

However, similar to the old system, if you limit your Last Seen status to certain people, you won’t be able to see their Last Seen status either. The new settings can be accessed from the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, then going to Account > Privacy.
