As with everything across the country, the increase in housing prices has been on our agenda for quite some time. While most people are waiting for the pocket-friendly prices to drop to buy a house, Sefer Altıoğlu, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MINT, who serves in the real estate sector, has made a statement that ruined the hopes of the citizens.

Altioglu, who was a guest of Bloomberg HT, stated that it is not possible to experience such a decrease in the light of the current sectoral situation. According to Altıoğlu, prices will continue to increase for a while, instead of falling.

Urban transformation is not a choice, it is a necessity.

Underlining that there has been an increase of approximately 60 percent in construction costs since January in the program he participated in, Altıoğlu said; He stated that many countries are making new infrastructure investment studies and therefore it is highly possible that an increase in construction costs will continue to be experienced in the coming period.

Noting that there may be a slowdown in the rate of increase in these prices, even if it is impossible for housing prices to decrease, Altıoğlu stated that the current scheme is a compensation for the collapse experienced in 2018-2019. Noting that global price reflections have not been seen yet, Altıoğlu also underlined that this reflection will make itself felt in the coming period.

Noting that the construction permits are not in a good condition regarding the current situation of the housing sector, Altıoğlu said; He stated that 98 percent of people who want to buy a house are looking for a house at the age of 15 or younger. Altioglu also stated that there are no flats for sale in the central areas of Istanbul, adding that the urban transformation is not a choice but a necessity at the moment.
