Technology giant Intel’s new 13th generation Raptor Lake processors are now approaching the end. While the wait continues for processors that will hit the market later in the year, the Raptor Lake family’s desktop processors and specs have been leaked by the generally reliable Extreme Player.
13th generation Raptor Lake family will come with 14 processors
Inte 13th generation Raptor Lake processors are built using a hybrid design consisting of performance-optimized P and efficiency-optimized E cores. In Raptor Lake processors, Intel will replace the P cores called Golden Cove used in Alder Lake processors that are already on the market, Raptor Cove. E-cores, called Gracemont, which focuses on efficiency, will maintain the same architecture but will come with minor improvements.
Expected features of Intel 13th generation Raptor Lake processors
- CPU configuration up to 24 cores and 32 threads
- New Raptor Cove CPU cores
- 10nm ESF ‘Intel 7’ process process
- Increased cache for both P-Cores and E-Cores
- Support for existing LGA 1700 socket motherboards
- New Z790, H770 and B760 motherboards
- Up to 28 PCIe Lanes (PCH Gen 4 + Gen 3)
- Up to 28 PCIe Lanes (CPU Gen 5 x16 + Gen 4 x12)
- Dual channel DDR5-5600 memory support
- 20 PCIe Gen 5 lanes
- Advanced overclocking features
- Release date Q4 2022 (Possibly October)
According to the shared information, the top of the 13th generation Raptor Lake processors will be the Core i9 13900K with 125W TDP, 24 cores and 32 threads. There are 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores in the core of this processor and it works at a base frequency of 3GHz. On the other hand, this processor seems to have a 200Mhz lower frequency speed than the previous generation Core i9 12900K.
Intel Core i9 13900KF overclocked to 6.1 GHz with liquid cooling
The second powerful model of the series, the Core i7 13700K processor, also has a TDP of 125W. The processor, which consists of 16 cores and 24 threads, has 8 P-Cores and 8 E-Cores. The 14 cores in the Core i5 13600K are divided into 8 P-Cores and 6 E-Cores. In both the i7 13700K and the i5 13600K, we see a 200 MHz frequency drop compared to the previous generation.
When we compare the processor models in the shared list with the Alder Lake family, it is noticed that there is a decrease in frequency speeds, but an increase in the amount of cores. However, 13th generation Raptor Lake processors will hit the shelves in October with the Z790 platform.
