READING NOW The hatchback legend of the years has become the Peugeot 408 SUV! Smells the fuel

On the first day of the six-day Paris auto show, Peugeot introduced the new 408 and e-208 models. What attracted attention was the 408, which now has SUV lines rather than a hatchback. Here are the new Peugeot 408 and e-208 features and price…

It’s an SUV now! Peugeot 408 specifications and price

The Peugeot 408, which was first previewed last June, appeared in front of users today after curious anticipation. Of course, it was the lifeblood of the Paris auto show, which was postponed due to the pandemic and opened its doors again after 4 years.

In terms of features and design, the new Peugeot 408 is a compact SUV. In fact, its rear lines are sharper than the Toyota C-HR. Therefore, it will offer a much more dynamic experience in city use compared to C and D segment SUVs.

Under the hood of the car, there is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 2 different versions. The first of these offers 180 HP, and the second offers 225 HP. Both these models use a rechargeable hybrid electric technology called PHEV. They also have small batteries of 12.4 kWh.

However, although they are small, they offer a range of 62 km in urban use. This is quite sufficient for the electric-only usage scenario. On the charging side, it can be fully charged in 3 hours and 50 minutes with a 3.7 kW charger, in 2 hours with a 7.4 kW AC Wall Box, and in 7 hours and 30 minutes using standard sockets.

When we look at the hybrid fuel consumption of the car, that is, the scenario where both electricity and gasoline use is mixed, we see that the factory data is 1.2lt/100 km. This shows that the vehicle is actually sniffing the fuel. Because cars with equivalent internal combustion engines consume 4 to 10 times more fuel.

Produced with the EMP2 platform, the car has a length of 4690 mm, a height of 1490 m and a wheelbase of 2787 mm. Compared to the 308, we see that it is 44 cm longer. There are differences between 2 and 5 cm in other sizes.

When we look at the features offered in the vehicle, we look at the features offered in the vehicle, including keyless entry and start, heated steering wheel, electric and massage seats, driving assistance, parking sensors, cameras with night vision support, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection up to 75 meters, lane average (semi-autonomous), 10 inches. There are many elements such as touch screen and customizable digital instrument panel.

The price of the Peugeot 408, which is currently only available in France with a limited stock of 300 and 50 in the UK, has been announced as 49 thousand 850 euros for the 225 HP hybrid model. The 180 HP model is expected to be offered for sale with the 2nd party.

Peugeot e-208 specifications

The Peugeot e-208, on the other hand, shows impressive results with the features of being a fully electric car. We see that the engine power of the vehicle has been increased from 136 HP to 156 HP. It also has 260 Nm of torque. On the battery side, 51 kWh battery cells that offer a range of 400 km welcome us.

When we look at the consumption data, the factory data is seen as 12 kWh/100 km. This also supports range values. On the price side, there is no clear data yet. However, it will be on the agenda again with the e-308 and e-308 SW in the coming period.
