Minecraft has become a global phenomenon, not only a game. The game, which has been selling more than 200 million copies since it was released in 2011, has become the world’s best -selling independent image game.
Even after Microsoft’s purchase of Mojang for $ 2.5 billion, the game maintains its popularity, with more than 150 million active players per month and earns $ 100 million annually.
So why is it not a priceless game to play Minecraft despite such a great success? And why will it never happen?
Compared to developers, the game is not suitable for micro processes
Speaking to IGN, Minecraft’s chief manufacturer, Ingela Garneij said that the basic structure of the game did not match a “free-to-play” model.
“We built our game for a different target.” Garneij said that making money with micro -processes is not wrong for Minecraft. “You buy the game and that’s all. For us, the game is accessible by as many people as possible.” Minecraft’s game manager Agnes Larson said that this decision is based on the fundamental values of the game.
In short, Mojang’s ideology is clear. Minecraft will neither have a sequel or not priceless.
