The next major Windows 11 update will be released later this year. One of the highly anticipated new features of the new update is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in arranging windows and applications on the desktop.
According to Windows Latest, the first examples of the AI-powered ‘Smart Snap’ layout were seen in preview versions of the operating system. It looks like Microsoft has hidden some features of Smart Snap and only works in some configurations.
Windows 11 currently comes with the Snap feature that allows users to open multiple application windows on a single screen to assist with multitasking and increase productivity. Using this feature, you can choose between different layouts and sizes, so you can use optimal screen space while working on tasks and without switching between tabs or apps. You can split screens between two tabs split in half, three tabs across the screen, or four grids if you have a lot of work.
The leaked Smart Snap feature will allow the operating system to remember Snap patterns for certain apps and restore them with a single click. So, if you’re doing custom screen setups while you work, Smart Snap will remember everything and set it up for you the way you want.
Admittedly, this doesn’t seem like the most exciting use of AI, but this feature will benefit a large number of users and it won’t be the last AI feature coming to Windows 11.
