According to the article published by WABetaInfo today, WhatsApp is testing the feature to report offensive content. The function that will come especially for status updates will also be valid for messages.
If the status update is reported, the complaint will be forwarded to the relevant moderation team and then to WhatsApp. The feature that will work from the desktop version will be provided with a button to be added to the status update, as seen in the image above.
If a WhatsApp user’s message is reported, the platform will look at the last 5 messages in the conversation. As with the status update, complaints will first go to the moderation team and then to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp brings this innovation because it wants to expand its security measures, especially due to the rapid increase in the number of users. The instant communication platform wants to identify users who will violate security and share disturbing content. However, it is not known at the moment what sanctions will be applied if the complaint is confirmed. The WhatsApp reporting feature is currently being developed in the testing phase.
