Technology giant Apple’s long-awaited VR/AR glasses are finally getting ready to enter the production line. New claims from industry sources have revealed that Apple’s mixed reality glasses mass production will begin in March 2023.
Apple VR/AR glasses may debut in 2023
In the latest report in DigiTimes, new information about Apple’s mixed reality glasses was shared. Pegatron, which is already known for producing MacBook and Mac, is said to be the production partner of this product.
According to the report based on internal sources, mass production may take place in March and launch in April. Apple reportedly kept initial production operations relatively low as it was not a priority device. In fact, less than a million is planned to be produced.
It was stated that Apple VR / AR glasses will be aimed more at the commercial market than the end user. Therefore, its price is expected to be higher compared to its competitors. The low number of production supports this claim.
It was stated that the new device was developed as “extended reality” (XR). This technology combines both purely virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which adds digital objects to the real world. Currently, we can take the Microsoft HoloLens 2 as a close device.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed his interest in AR and VR technology many times. In addition, many of Apple’s products have sensors or software that allow these technologies. This shows that Apple will open the VR / AR door in 2023.
