The iconic action series Max Payne recently celebrated its 22nd anniversary. However, players who do not want to spend this celebration quietly have developed an interesting mode. The main character’s appearance in Max Payne 1 and 2 has been carried over to Max Payne 3. The legendary character is now also playable in 2012’s Max Payne 3.
Sam Lake becomes Max Payne 3 character with new mode
Sam Lake, the model and story writer of the first Max Payne game, is back on the agenda for the 22nd anniversary of the series. Prepared by a game developer, the mod integrated the iconic look of the character into Max Payne 3.
In fact, we play as the original Max Payne character in all three games. However, Max Payne 3, released in 2012, features a character with a very different appearance. The players brought the image and texture of Sam Lake from the first two games to this game.
With the mod, Lake’s physical movements and clothes were also carried over to Max Payne 3. Even in the episodes set in New York, the classic leather jacket and Hawaiian shirt from the first game were featured. The mod developer said that he recreated the look of Lake by replacing 98 character models and 66 textures in total.
The mod had a great impact on social media, especially since it was developed 10 years later. Sam Lake, who did not remain silent on the subject, tweeted that he was pleased to return to the series.
Sam Lake, who currently works as a creative director at Remedy Entertainment, is best known for his work with Alan Wake and Control. He is also known as the author of the Max Payne story.
