Apple introduced the highly anticipated iPhone 15 series as part of the Wonderlust event held last week. We can say that the favorites of this event were undoubtedly the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. So much so that these devices, powered by Apple 17 Pro, managed to become a hot topic with their support for console games. However, it seems that this feature will not be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Console games are coming to iPad and Mac

For those who don’t know, as part of the Wonderlust event, Apple announced that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will offer support for console games such as Resident Evil 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, with features such as ray tracing and MetalFX upscaling. After this, we can say that it became a matter of curiosity whether a similar feature would come to iPad or Macs.

In an interview with IGN, Apple’s head of GPU Software Jeremy Sandmel and Apple’s Vice President of Platform Architecture Tim Millet clarified these questions. When asked if these new games would be compatible with Apple silicon iPads and Macs, Millet said, “The developers will be working with us to make that happen.”

Jeremy Sandmel said, “One of the things that fundamentally makes this possible is the combination of Apple Silicon and the architecture of iPhone Silicon and iPad Silicon. “So you can see that they can do exactly what you suggest.” It’s not clear which models Apple is referring to here. However, it may be referring to new generation iPads and Macs with M3 chips.

It has also been confirmed that, alongside Macs and iPads, the iPhone 15 Pro series will allow 4K/60FPS gaming over USB-C. “The iPhone can connect to these 4K displays, and you’ll be able to do everything you do on the phone externally, including playing games on other displays,” Sandmel said. Of course, we should point out that the USB-C port is behind this development. Previously, only 1080p resolution was supported over Lightning cables.
