Many Windows 11 users have been patiently waiting for the company to add a dark mode to the Paint app. This long wait came to an end a short time ago. Microsoft announced that Insider members in Dev and Canary channels will be able to download the new version of the Paint application (11.2304.17.0). This version also includes a dark mode feature. If you are using Windows 11 in dark mode, Paint will now use the system theme by default. You can also access this feature from the settings section of the application.
Alongside the new dark mode, the new Paint app for Dev and Canary Insiders is getting updated with some new features and improvements for the zoom mode. The classic presets are still available, but more precise zooming in and out can now be done on the zoom slider. In addition, the desired zoom value can be adjusted.Microsoft is also making minor changes to the design of the Paint application. Legacy applications such as Paint currently do not match the design style of Windows 11. With the update, the dialog boxes will be changed and adaptation will be achieved. Microsoft has improved keyboard shortcut support for Paint. It’s unclear when all of these features will be available for the standard edition of Windows 11. But we expect the new Paint version to be available in the coming weeks.
