Nintendo shuts down Wii U and 3DS eShops in 2023

Nintendo has confirmed that it will be shutting down legacy app and digital content stores. Trying to switch its users completely to Switch, the Japanese manufacturer said that Wii U and 3DS eShops will be supported until March 27, 2023. This; shows that products in the store such as games, apps, wallpapers and themes are no longer available.

Nintendo, which started to warn Wii U and 3DS owners, has been continuing its support for Wii U for almost 10 years. But after March 27, it will be completely closed to paid or free purchases and access to stores will be closed.

While it’s almost gone today, we recommend purchasing eShop cards for the Wii U and 3DS if you can find them. It is thought that these cards will become cheaper and may even be distributed free of charge.

If you have a balance in the markets, we also recommend you to use it. Because this is the last chance to play the games and apps on the Wii U and 3DS stores until next year. However, after March 27, 2023, it will be possible to download games and DLCs, receive software updates and play online.

It was stated that Nintendo Switch owners will not be affected by this situation. In the official article, it was underlined that no changes are planned in the Nintendo eShop.
