Popular messaging platform WhatsApp comes up with new features and projects. Today, the platform came up with a new issue. Instant messaging service WhatsApp attracted attention with a backup-focused step. Accordingly, WhatsApp backups will take up space in the Google Cloud account.

WhatsApp backups on Androids will take up space in the cloud!

WhatsApp, which has millions of users, came up with the issue of backup today. As it is known, it is possible to back up chat history to the cloud on both Android and iPhone. While the backup on the Google side is via the storage space provided with the Google account, on the iPhone it is via iCloud.

On the other hand, WhatsApp’s backups were normally in the quota on iCloud. However, it did not fall out of the quota on Google’s side. This will change with today’s news. Recently, there was an agreement between WhatsApp and Google. As a result of this agreement, WhatsApp backups on Android devices will take up space in the Google cloud account.

This application seems to challenge users. Because now, instead of unlimited backups, the quota will be deducted. WhatsApp backups will count against the 15GB free quota shared between Google Accounts, Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.

If large files and photos are deleted from WhatsApp, they will also be deleted from the storage. Thus, it will continue to back up as space will be freed up in the Google Cloud account. Users who do not want to delete their files will have to purchase more storage space through Google One.
