Meta-affiliated Instagram is working on an innovation that will increase the privacy of verified accounts. According to the sharing of mobile application developer Alessandro Paluzzi, users will be able to prevent their follower count from being seen by others. However, not everyone who uses the social media platform will be able to benefit from this feature.

Alessandro Paluzzi, who revealed the innovations in social media applications before they were used, shared the screenshot of the new feature. In the post he published on Twitter, he quoted the sentences “Instagram is working on the feature of limiting the number of followers that can be viewed”. So how will the function of limiting the number of followers work?

Instagram won’t show follower count

Thanks to the new feature, a user with a blue tick will be able to make his followers special only to him. By doing this, Instagram will make the “Followers” tab of that account private. When someone other than the account itself tries to view followers, it says “Unfollowers only …. User can view” message will appear.

However, unfortunately, not everyone will be able to use this feature. According to the information shared by Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram will only allow verified business accounts with 4000+ followers to restrict their followers. If your follower count is less than 4000, you don’t have a blue tick and you don’t use a business account, the “Followers” section will be open to everyone as before.

Mobile app developer Alessandro Paluzzi stated that the feature is currently under development. This means that changes may be made in the future and will be available to all Instagram users. Of course, the final decision will be made by Meta, the umbrella company of Instagram. On the other hand, the date when the follower restriction function will be available remains uncertain.
