The textile company, which exports from Giresun to Europe, obtains most of the electricity it consumes from the Solar Power Plant (SPP).
GITEKS company, which has a closed area of 7 thousand 300 square meters in the 1st Organized Industrial Zone, employs 1100 people.
The company, which produces suits and exports 90 percent of its products to Europe, installed solar panels on a 6 thousand square meter section of the factory roof about a year ago.
The company, whose annual energy consumption is 95 thousand kilowatt-hours, produces an average of 80 thousand kilowatt-hours of energy annually, thanks to the solar power plant it has established.
General Manager of the company, Merdan Yüce, said that they installed solar power plants to reduce increasing energy costs and increase competitiveness in the international market.
Stating that their installed power is approximately 800 kilowatt hours, Yüce stated that they have been producing electricity from SPP for about a year.
Yüce stated that they carried out the project with the expectation that it would meet 95 percent of the electricity need, and said, “In the sunniest months of summer, we meet all our needs, and even become a creditor. Our current electricity bills on an annual basis remain an additional burden of at most 10 percent compared to previous years, meaning “We’re pretty much neck and neck.” said.
Stating that it is expected that there will be restrictions and new rules regarding carbon footprint emissions within the European Union in the coming years, Yüce continued his words as follows:
“As of 2026, it is expected that there will be additional taxes and restrictions on the export of the production of companies that do not show the necessary sensitivity. We have already turned to SPP in order to prepare ourselves for carbon footprint emissions and to become a more competitive and environmentally friendly production facility for the future.”
Yüce pointed out that the companies they work with abroad are highly sensitive about their carbon footprint and said, “We inform customers about SPP during international certifications, and this is welcomed.” he said.
