Google Stadia, which came to life in selected countries at the end of 2019, was described as the game service of the future. With the support of partner companies and Google, the platform had reliably entered the game world, but GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming, which gained popularity with the COVID-19 pandemic, had seriously stolen users from Stadia. Losing users day by day, Google closed Stadia’s studios and reduced its support for the project. The platform is now losing one of its most important game series.
New Netflix games are coming
Ubisoft prefers Amazon Luna
Introducing new Assassin’s Creed games at the Ubisoft Forward event last week, Ubisoft did not list Google Stadia on the platforms where Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released. After this incident, players thought that the company that ported many Assassin’s Creed games for the Stadia platform made a mistake. However, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not really come to the Stadia platform. Mirage will launch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Amazon Luna. Ubisoft, which even brought AC Valhalla to the Stadia platform, seems to agree with Amazon this year.
However, it seems that Ubisoft has not completely severed its ties with Stadia. The company’s highly anticipated games, Skull & Bones and Just Dance 2023, will also be released on the Stadia platform. Let’s see if Google will take important steps to revive the Stadia platform or will Stadia disappear into history as one of the services that Google has abandoned.
