Stellantis’ premium car brand DS has unveiled its all-electric supercar concept. The concept, called E-Tense Performance, includes technologies from Formula E.
For the new work of DS, we can say that it is an evolution of the DS E-Tense concept introduced in 2016. Of course, after about 6 years, stronger engines and a much more modern design are in question. Let’s not forget that this new design language will affect the future models of DS.
The DS Performance team adapted the electric powertrain in Formula E directly into the concept. There is an electric motor producing 335 horsepower at the front and 469 horsepower at the rear. Thanks to this combination, a total of 805 horsepower and 8000 Nm torque (wheel torque) emerges. This means that the new E-Tense Performance concept is twice as strong as 2016’s E-Tense.
The battery pack of the concept is also inspired by racing vehicles. The battery, which has a carbon-aluminum composite housing, is placed in the middle-rear section of the vehicle to maintain optimum weight distribution. The battery, which has an innovative chemistry and an impressive cooling system for the cells, draws attention with its regeneration capacity of up to 600 kW.
For DS E-Tense Performance, 2-second 0-100 km/h acceleration has been hinted, but official performance data has not been released yet. DS will share this data once the concept’s development process is complete. On the other hand, it is also among the information given that the vehicle has a suspension geometry that will provide the best possible grip on rough roads and in all weather conditions.
