Canada will only allow sales of electric cars after 2035
Canada has made an announcement called the “2030 Emission Reduction Plan”, explaining its stance on electric cars. The country aims to gradually reduce the sales of internal combustion cars to reduce carbon emissions. Taking an important decision in this direction, Canada aims to have electric cars by 100 percent of sales by 2035.
Canada stated that the reason behind this decision was based on global warming and climate change. Because, it was emphasized in the plan that they are more affected by global warming than many countries in the world. In the statement, it was stated that they set out with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The following statements were included in the announcement:
Canada’s average temperatures are rising twice the global average and three times higher in the North. Taking steps to pollute less and remove excess carbon from the air will be one of the most important initiatives in Canadian history. We will put in a sales order to ensure that electric car sales are 100 percent by 2035.
The country’s electric car plans are not limited to this. Canada announced that it will set aside $400 million in new funding to build more than 50,000 electric car charging stations across the country. In order to support the energy that these vehicles will consume, there is an investment plan of 600 million dollars under the name of Smart Renewable Energy and Electrification Roads Program.
