The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remastered with Path Tracing
For those who don’t know, Path Tracing, which is a more advanced form of ray tracing that tracks the path of light sources in games, is only used in Cyberpunk 2077 today. So much so that a minimum of GPUs such as RTX 4080 or 4090 are needed to activate without DLSS. Today, renowned mod maker Pascal Gilcher, also known as Marty McFly, showed off an impressive Path Tracing solution implemented in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
In the shared video, Skyrim, which is almost 22 years old, looks stunning with more advanced lighting and shadow effects. We also see that Path Tracing runs surprisingly fluently. The mod creator’s approach is not much different from RTX Remix. However, it has been made scalable to almost any game. So much so that it also works with newer games like Grand Theft Auto V (DX11) and Control (DX12).
Unfortunately the modder did not share any link to download the mod for the new Skyrim. But it plans to devote more time to the development of its path tracking solution. So it can be shared on Patreon very soon.
