If we look at what Xbox president Phil Spencer said in a new interview, it seems more and more likely that Elder Scrolls 6, the sequel to the legendary RPG series The Elder Scrolls, will be exclusive to Xbox.
Speaking to GQ, Phil Spencer hinted that The Elder Scrolls 6 will follow in Starfield’s footsteps by launching exclusively on the Microsoft platform. Spencer also underlined that this decision is not “about penalizing another platform” but is part of an attempt to provide “a complete package” to Xbox customers.
It’s still unclear if The Elder Scrolls 6 will be exclusive to Xbox
“I want us to be able to bring the full package of what we have to be on Xbox. That would be true when I thought of The Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I thought of any of our franchises,” Spencer confirmed the possibility that this was possible. This may not be good news for PlayStation fans of other studios brought into the Xbox family as part of the Zenimax acquisition, which was completed earlier this year, such as Deathloop developer Arkane or Doom developer iD Software; however, when we think about it, this wouldn’t be a big surprise, frankly.
Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed last August that Starfield PS5 will not happen, and this was followed by reports suggesting The Elder Scrolls 6 was a “scheduled” Xbox exclusive. Since the acquisition, Microsoft has also made it clear that Zenimax’s latest PlayStation obligations, Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo, will be met, but that will change after that.
No matter what platforms Skyrim is released on, it’s likely to take a few more years for this to happen. Last week, Todd Howard hinted that The Elder Scrolls 6 might not arrive until 2026; He talked about Starfield’s launch next year and the four to five year development period Bethesda is working on.
