Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is undoubtedly the scene of very worrying developments for humanity. On the other hand, the whole world applies embargo to show their reaction against Russia. Russia’s hand has shrunk in many areas. One of these areas was the smartphone market. However, this contraction has benefited Chinese smartphone manufacturers.
Chinese smartphone manufacturers more than doubled in one year
After the embargoes, Russia meets its technological product needs in all sectors from China. While China’s support saves Russia from major problems, it also offers them an opportunity to grow. One of these areas was the smartphone world.
Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as Vivo, Xiaomi, Tecno, Realme, Infinix, iTel and Nokia (HMD Global) have recorded more than 100 percent growth in the last period. During this specified period, more than 10 million smartphones were sold in Russia.
Among these developments, the most striking names were Realme and Tecno. Realme sold 498,000 smartphones in the first half of 2021. In the same period of this year, it experienced a big jump by selling about 1.1 million units. Unit sales of Tecno smartphones increased more than 20 times in May and June.
Additionally, Poco’s unit sales increased 16 percent year over year, while Nokia’s increased more than 40 percent. In this process, Samsung’s share fell by 15 percent, while Apple’s share fell 14 percent year on year. On the other hand, according to the Analyst, it will dominate 90 percent of the Russian smartphone market.
