E3 will not be for a while
Apparently, the city doesn’t expect E3 to return in 2024 or 2025. This news seems to contradict messages from E3’s organizers, ReedPop and ESA. Earlier this year, ESA, the commercial organization that organizes E3, announced that it has partnered with entertainment company ReedPop, which hosts major fan conventions like New York Comic-Con and Penny Arcade Expo, to host E3 2023. After the Covid-19 pandemic halted in-person events between 2020 and 2022, 2023 was supposed to mark the return of the video game industry’s biggest event of the year in-person.
Despite E3’s cancellation, other events have stepped in to replace him. Last week, Geoff Keighley hosted the Summer Game Fest, which included the tarfield presentation. Earlier this month, Sony showed off Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 at its own event for PlayStation. Similarly, Xbox, Nintendo and Ubisoft made their own presentations. Meanwhile, the press release announcing the cancellation of E3 2023 hints that ESA and ReedPop will be working on future E3 events. There will be clearer information about the future of E3 in the coming periods.
