Samsung is at the top of the list when it comes to foldable phones. The company has been coming up with such phones for the past few years and has been successfully selling them worldwide. The technology giant, which wanted to continue its success in this regard, was also working on a foldable phone with three screens.
There has been an important development about this phone, which has been rumored for many years. The company has filed a patent application for this phone with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO). The patent, uncovered by Patently Apple, gives us an idea of the possible design of the device and how it will work.
Samsung’s triple-screen phone will fold in a zigzag pattern and work as both a tablet and a phone
In the images, we can see that the device can be folded in a ‘Z’ shape. The patent reveals that two hinges will be used to fold the large OLED display into three zigzag-shaped pieces of equal size. This reveals that the device can basically transform from a device such as a tablet to a compact phone. Thus, it is possible to say that users can use the device by enlarging the screen for activities such as watching videos and surfing the internet.
In addition, the patent also explains the sensors that will be used to understand what state the phone is in. Accordingly, these sensors will place both hinges and transmit the information to the processor. For example, if the phone is fully open, the entire screen will be available. However, if only one of the three parts is open, the operating system will only show the user interface from that open screen.
Samsung does not want to lose its leadership, especially while Apple has the possibility to release a foldable phone and is making moves to produce the best products in this field, such as the three-screen phone. Although there is no official information about when this interesting phone that he has been working on for years will be released, we can say that the patent strengthens the possibility of the product becoming reality soon.
