Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister of Telecom and Information Technology, announced that the largest Apple manufacturing facility in the country is under construction to support the “Make in India” initiative.

The factory in question is located in Hosur, about 40 km from the city of Bangalore, which is called the silicon valley of Asia. The new iPhone factory will employ more than 60,000 people.

Tata Electronics will operate

Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced that 6,000 tribal women from Ranchi and Hazaribagh were trained for iPhone production. According to the information conveyed, iPhone 14 production will be mainly carried out at the facility.

The Hosur iPhone manufacturing facility will be operated by Tata Electronics. Apple currently has three Taiwanese subcontractors in India. Foxconn operates in Tamil Nadu, Pegatron operates near Chennai and Wistron operates in Bangalore.
