The Japanese government has developed the HAKUTO-R spacecraft to carry the payloads of both private companies and public institutions. Collaborating with SpaceX for the first mission of the developed vehicle, Japan will take a new step to travel to the Moon after the launch to be held today.
According to the information announced, the Falcon 9 rocket will be launched from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch, which will take place on December 11 at 10:15 CET, will be broadcast on YouTube.
Authorities announced that the HAKUTO-R spacecraft will land on the Moon in April 2023. HAKUTO-R will deliver a rover from the United Arab Emirates named Rashid to the Moon after a few months of travel. Rashid is known as part of the United Arab Emirates’ first Moon mission.
SpaceX will accomplish this mission with the same rocket it launched payloads into orbit around Earth. This time, however, the HAKUTO-R spacecraft will move away from Earth and towards the Moon instead of entering orbit.
