In the past weeks, users have started to express different complaints about the ‘Exclusive for You’ section added to Twitter later. Most of these complaints pointed out that unrelated tweets were suggested to users on the site. When the number of complaints increased, Elon Musk announced that they were working on this issue.

The tweets that caused the said complaints were not followed by the users or by the other users that the users followed. Aiming to prevent this situation, Musk also mentioned the algorithm after his announcement.

The algorithm used to recommend tweets becomes open source later this month.

This indicates that the system in question can be developed in a much shorter time. In addition to his announcement, Musk’s words about the algorithm are as follows:

“Our algorithm is pretty complicated…”

“…and it is not fully understood. People will find a lot of nonsense, but we will solve the problems found immediately.”

“We are working on a simplified approach to deliver more coherent tweets, but this is still in progress. It will also be open source.”

“Code transparency, although annoying at first, will lead to a rapid improvement in recommendation quality. Above all, we hope to earn your trust.”

This issue came up last month as well.

On the evening of February 21, Musk stated that the codes will be shared as open source next week. But we haven’t heard much about it since then. Sharing it as a general statement this time shows that we can look at the date of February 31 more warmly.
