iQOO, which started its operations as a subsidiary of Vivo in 2019, but continues to operate independently as of today, will soon be available to users with its new phones. The company’s newest smartphones will be the iQOO 12 series, and thanks to the claims made so far, we have a little information about how they will perform. A recent report reveals that a claim made about the standard model is not true.
iQOO 12 will come with a 1.5K screen, not 2K
Digital Chat Station, known for its leaks in the industry, recently revealed that iQOO 12 will come with a 2K screen. However, a report shared by Lee Ang-aung today refuted this claim and said that the smartphone will come with a 1.5K resolution panel. As you may remember, a 2K panel was also used in the iQOO 11 series introduced last year, and therefore the feature was expected to be included in upcoming phones as well.
The reason why iQOO 12 will experience a decrease in its screen is stated to be better optimization of screen clarity and power efficiency elements. Apart from this, let us note that the smartphone will feature a Samsung E7 AMOLED panel that offers a 144 Hz refresh rate.
The processor to be used in the model will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The chipset, which will gain a significant performance upgrade, will host the Cortex-X4 core with a speed of 3.7GHz. At the same time, changes are expected in the core architecture of the processor.
The most current chipset used today, Snadpragon 8 Gen 2, has Cortex-X3 architecture and operates at 3.2 GHz. This means that performance will be directly affected in daily use. In addition, the new processor is expected to have a 1+5+2 architecture, including one “super large” core, five “large” cores and two “small” cores.
iQOO 12 will have a metal structure and support 200W fast charging. On the other hand, it will be sold with up to 16 GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512 GB to 1 TB using UFS 4.0 technology. Additionally, the device will have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C 3.x port. Apart from this, it will have a main camera with a 50 Megapixel OV50H sensor.
iQOO 12, which is expected to be introduced in December, is expected to run the Android 14-based Origin OS 4.0 interface out of the box.
