At last Tuesday morning, a citizen stopped a taxi in Beylikdüzü and got in like a customer. Saying that his father was waiting for him, he wanted to go to the TIR park on the Çatalca road. As they approached, he stopped the vehicle and began to wait. At that time, the driver of the vehicle, Şah Murat Atabey, got out of the vehicle for toilet needs. The so-called passenger named Abdülsamet Karataş, who was waiting in the taxi, started the taxi with the key on it and left quickly.
Taxi driver Atabey immediately called the police and informed him. Then, in the social communication group where the taxi drivers were, he shared the license plate and photo of the vehicle and asked for help from his colleagues.
It turned out that the thief had a file of 46 crimes and was wanted for 11 different crimes.
Two days after the incident, at noon yesterday, a taxi driver reported that he saw the stolen taxi in Avcılar Ambarlı Square. Avcılar District Police Department Public Security Teams were dispatched to the region. When he noticed the suspect policemen waiting in the square, he tried to escape quickly. When Karataş, who stole the vehicle, did not stop despite the warnings, the police blew up the vehicle tires with a gun. After 4 laps around the intersection with flat tires, when his speed slowed down, he opened the vehicle’s door and ran forward. The taxi, which he had left running, crashed into a tree in the square and stopped. The suspect was caught in a short time and was taken from the area with the help of a taxi tow truck.
It turned out that Karataş, who stole the taxi when the taxi driver went to the toilet, was driving a taxi for 3 days with the vehicle he stole. The thief, who took everyone who stopped him into a taxi, stated that this was a reaction to the current system and said, “I am a superhero.” It turned out that he had 46 different criminal records, such as injury, and was wanted for 11 separate incidents.
