Apple is preparing to announce the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models next month with a number of important changes. The company is working to increase the sales of the standard models by offering Dynamic Island technology and USB-C port on all models. We previously reported that the iPhone 15 models will feature a brand new USB-C port with Thunderbolt features. While the new standard is capable of supporting higher charging speeds, we haven’t heard any details regarding this feature. Now, with the transition to USB-C, it is stated that iPhone 15 models will have higher charging speeds up to 35W.
Currently, iPhone 14 Pro models can charge around 27W maximum and iPhone 14 models have 20W charging speed. Increasing this value to 35W will speed up charging times. iPhone has always had slower charging speeds compared to its Android rivals. Main competitor Samsung, for example, offers charging speeds of up to 45W. Chinese smartphone manufacturers offer further improvements in technology, offering wired charging speeds of over 70W. In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro Max takes about two hours to fully charge. With higher charging speeds, iPhone 15 Pro models can be expected to charge in a relatively shorter time.
Additionally, Apple no longer sells a power adapter with the iPhone. The company currently offers a 20W+ charger for fast charging. If iPhone 15 models support up to 35W charging, Apple may start recommending a 30W MacBook Air charger or a 35W Dual USB-C charger for maximum charging speed.
