With all the technological developments of 2022, we see cars with magnificent designs and safety features. Cars are making us sad these days due to the economic conditions in our country, but as a country, we have not lost our interest in these vehicles. When we look at the past of our country, there are many legendary cars. Maybe we didn’t have a domestic car, but we met this need with cars like the bird series and Anadol. In particular, Anadol was a search brand that everyone envied when it first came out. Today, we will introduce you to a much more specific car, the Anadol Insect.
Anadol Insect, which looks like it came out of the future when compared to 1975, the year it was produced, was produced by Otosan in only 203 pieces. Anadol Insect, which was very different from the Anadols produced until that time, also had a structure similar to the most popular vehicles of today, SUVs.
Anadol For what purpose was the insect myth created?
At first glance, Anadol Insect, which is similar to the vehicles called Beach Buggy, was actually designed for much different purposes. Developed for use in many areas such as military, public service, ambulance, tourism, police, agriculture, the hood of the vehicle, which goes in line with the windshield, and the roof roll bars following them, allowed another vehicle to climb on top of Anadol Insect. This allowed vehicles to save each other on rough terrain.
Although it was mostly produced for military purposes, the automobile, which was planned to be sold especially in coastal areas, did not attract much attention due to the oil crisis in the period it was produced, and was therefore discontinued.
Anadol Insect’s production phase
Anadol Insect’s emergence process was very fast. The car, which was completed in only 5 months, including the design phase, consisted of a fiberglass body mounted on a steel full chassis. The concept designer of the car produced by Otosan was Jan Nahum. Eralp Noyan, who is also the designer of Anadol STC 16, carried out the design, model and bodywork works. Zeki Diker was responsible for the engine of the car, Kadri Nisel for the mechanics, and Hüseyin Bektaş for the chassis.
Belonging to the legendary car series of a period, Anadol family, attracting attention with its different design even today, Insect could have been a domestic alternative to the SUV model long ago had it continued to be produced. Although its production did not continue due to the conditions of the period, due to this misfortune, it has become an extremely valuable car today.
