Robert Bowling, who worked as a creative strategist at Infinity Ward and during the development of the Call of Duty series, evaluated the course of the Call of Duty series. Bowling, one of the senior executives of Infinity Ward from 2006 to 2012, admitted that the series is now heading towards a process that needs to be recreated from start to finish.
Bells are ringing for the Call of Duty series
As it is known, the last game of the Call of Duty series was released in October of last year. The production, which was presented to the players for the PC platform along with PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, became one of the most unsuccessful games of the series with both Metacritic notes and sales figures. According to the information from the VGC front, Call of Duty: Vanguard became the least sold CoD game released in about 15 years after CoD 4, one of the most popular productions of the series.
The Call of Duty front, which faced serious criticism both on the forums and on the game’s Steam page, is now the target of criticism arrows of one of the former producers of the game. Publishing a statement via his official social media account, Bowling stated that the producers of the series used to look at the players as a friend. He claimed that during the development of new generation CoDs, players have become customers and feedback is not taken into account in any way. Bowling said that producers should stop gifting content to players and focus on core gameplay mechanics.
