A few days ago, an alarming issue started appearing on the screens of some Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones. But Google released a statement saying that the problem is nothing to worry about.
Reddit threads, forum posts, and YouTube videos appeared to show some users noticing small dents under the glass on their Pixel 8 screens. These damages did not appear to affect the functionality of the screens and were only visible in certain lighting conditions, but they were definitely there.
Google shared its information on this issue in a statement to 9to5Google. A company spokesperson said, “Pixel 8 phones have a new display. “When the display is turned off, not in use, and under certain lighting conditions, some users may see traces of components on the device that resemble small bumps or dimples,” he said, adding: “There is no functional impact on the performance or durability of Pixel 8.”
In other words, as previously thought, these protrusions from internal components do indeed exist on the screens, but according to Google, they are perfectly normal and do not cause a problem.
Still, it’s safe to assume that users won’t be too happy to notice these types of things on the screen after purchasing a new smartphone. It is not yet known exactly how widespread this situation is or whether it affects all existing Pixel 8 phones.
