Today is a very important day for sky lovers. Because the biggest full moon of 2022 will shine brightly in the sky today. In the visual feast that will be experienced as a result of the shortening of the distance between the Earth and the Moon, we will see the Moon bigger and brighter than ever before.
As a matter of fact, the Moon has been in the full moon phase for a few days. Today, however, the Moon will appear much brighter and much larger, as the distance between Earth and Moon will get shorter. According to scientists, the Moon will be 16 percent brighter than an average full moon today. Tomorrow, though less bright than today, we will still be faced with an impressive Moon image.
Keep your eyes up tonight
According to the calculations, the Moon will be seen at its maximum magnitude and brightness at 21:38 tonight. Due to the long days, our eastern provinces will be able to see the gigantic size and brightness of the Moon more impressively. If you have business tonight, don’t worry, a similar event will happen on August 11th. The image on August 11 will be recorded as the last Supermoon of 2022.
Although we, as ordinary people, describe this event as a visual feast, NASA looks at it from a different angle. The agency calls this event “Thunder Moon” because of the thunderstorms that occurred in July.
