According to a new study, Sunday afternoon is the most productive time to send an e-mail.
Sunday is a golden day for emailing!
Axios HQ, which produces artificial intelligence supported software that helps organizations manage their basic communications, examined 8.7 million e-mails sent through its platform between January 2022 and March 2023. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that e-mails sent between 15.00-18.00 on Sunday were read more than other days.
According to the analysis of Axios HQ company, 94% of e-mails sent between 15.00-18.00 on Sunday were opened. However, the rate of reading e-mails between 18:00 and 21:00 on the same day remained at 86%.
The company explains the reason for this as less e-mails are sent on Sundays compared to other days. Since the number of mails received on Sundays is low, people can check their mail more easily. On the other hand, since Monday is the first day of the working day, when the mails received in the first hour of the morning are checked, the e-mails of the previous day are the first thing seen.
But of course, sending or receiving mail on Sunday may not be suitable for everyone. One expert says sending an email on the subject on Sunday could cause a kind of “techno invasion.”
Associate professor of Business Administration at the University of Leeds, Dr. Matthew Davis says, “There is a phenomenon known as the ‘techno invasion’. That means business technology infiltrating your private life as well. And we know that this is linked to people feeling more stressed and less satisfied with their jobs and work-life balance.
My concern is that people see this and think ‘I’m going to start posting these more routinely on the weekends’. Because for some people it’s okay… but there are a lot of people for whom it will increase their sense of burden.” says.
Therefore, although it seems more advantageous to send an e-mail on Sunday, it may have a negative effect on the other party. It’s good to be careful.
