The Japanese Fugaku computer, which has been on the list of the best supercomputers for two years, hands over to the USA. Developed by HPE, The Frontier doubles its competitor.

The Frontier supercomputer, commissioned by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, features AMD EPYC processors. Based on HPE’s Cray EX platform, the computer peaks at 1.1 exaflops. Fugaku, on the other hand, could reach a peak value of 442 PFLOPS.

The other Cray EX-based EuroHPC computer on the list is with 151.9 PLFLOPS, IBM Summit with 148.8 PFLOPS, and its smaller version Sierra with 94.6 PFLOPS. China has two positions with Sunway and Tianhe-2A. Oceanlite and Tianhe-3 systems will also be on the list in the near future.
