Apple will introduce the new generation operating systems with the WWDC 2023 event that will be held on June 5th. A short time before the event, Apple’s innovations, especially iOS 17, are eagerly awaited. As the introduction date approached, new information about the applications started to come.

Apple Maps app gets new lock screen look

According to the latest information, Apple aims to provide a new Map application experience on all iPhone models with iOS 17. In Apple’s new lock screen layout, the date and time will be located at the top of the screen, while the navigation instructions will now show themselves at the bottom of the screen.

Moving the navigation instructions to the bottom of the screen on the lock screen, Apple includes unread notifications, flashlight and camera application shortcuts under this section. By swiping the bottom part up, the notification center will expand and all notifications will appear in front of the Map application.

In addition to all these, the Map application can now be reduced to the size of the music player widget on the lock screen. When the map application is touched again, the application can return to its previous dimensions. The navigation app on the lock screen is not expected to be interactive.

This feature, which Apple offers on the lock screen in its Map application, will not offer it in third-party applications. Therefore, we do not expect a significant change in the appearance of Google Maps and other navigation applications with iOS 17.

With iOS 17, Apple will sign many innovations, especially the lock screen. We will be able to reach the details of the renewed operating system only with the WWDC 202 event.
