Microsoft’s SwiftKey keyboard has unexpectedly returned to the App Store. The company officially stopped keyboard support for iOS in October and removed the app from the App Store. However, now he seems to have stepped back from this decision.

“Based on feedback from our customers, we have decided to put SwiftKey iOS back on the Apple App Store,” Microsoft said in a statement. “You can find more information at Support.SwiftKey.com.”

SwiftKey is back, but the update date still appears to be August 11, 2021. It is not yet clear whether the app will be updated to new versions, but some changes are expected. Vishnu Nath, general manager of Microsoft’s OneNote and Office, wanted users to be prepared for new developments and heralded that Microsoft plans to invest heavily in keyboard software.

SwiftKey was initially hugely popular on the Android platform and was ported to the iOS platform with iOS 8 in 2014 when Apple started allowing third-party keyboard software. It was acquired by Microsoft in 2016. It has been on the Android platform since the beginning and is quite popular.
