The smartphone market was also affected by the economic and many other problems that emerged worldwide in 2022. While all of the technology companies producing smartphones experienced a shortage in their sales and increased their income, the situation for Apple alone showed the opposite. So, how much did the sales of famous companies decrease in 2022? Let’s take a look at the details of the news together.

Apple also increased its sales in the smartphone market in 2022

During the pandemic caused by COVID-19, there were significant decreases in the smartphone market due to the fact that many people turned to technological tools, worldwide wars and economic problems. Apart from Apple, all companies in the smartphone market also got their share.

According to information revealed by Counterpoint, in 2022, the smartphone market overall fell 12 percent in the third quarter. Apple, on the other hand, prevented the decline in this area thanks to the iPhone 14 series it introduced this year. The tech giant saw a 10 percent increase in overall revenue and a 7 percent increase in sales year over year.

Despite Samsung dominating the foldable smartphone market with its Flip and Fold series, 2022 saw a 4 percent decline in the last quarter. OPPO, on the other hand, fell 27 percent. Xiaomi, which stands out among them, did not experience this significant effect compared to others. The firm saw a 4% decline year-on-year.

Considering the reports, it seems that those who do not buy a smartphone in general do not give up on Apple. Making a statement on the subject, technology analyst Harmeet Singh Walia revealed the following words:

“The revenue contribution of 5G mobile phones, which exceeds $80 billion, increased from 69% in the third quarter of last year to reach 80% of global phone revenues, which is an all-time high. In the same period, the revenue contribution of LTE mobile phones fell 10% to $19 billion. The transition from 4G to 5G was led by Apple, which alone accounts for more than half of all 5G revenues, as more than 95% of its phones are 5G capable.”
