Technology giant Apple may have plans to turn those waiting for a foldable iPhone into the opposite corner. According to the allegations, it is working on a foldable device that is a mix of iPad and MacBook. The new leak predicts that the foldable MacBook model will be announced in 2027.
Foldable iPad+MacBook may be announced in 2027
According to the latest report in The Elec, Apple has started the development phase of the device, which will have a 20-inch screen. Although it is thought that it will not be offered as a commercial product at the first stage, it is stated that the year 2027 is targeted for the first launch.
The foldable Apple product that will blend iPad and MacBook brings some prerequisites for the company. Sources speaking to The Elec stated that Apple should switch its entire product line to OLED. For those who don’t know, iPads and MacBooks still use LCD (or miniLED).
Mac and iPad with OLED screens are planned to be released in two to three years. As a result, the foldable MacBook + iPad model may debut in 2027. It is reported that the MacBook will have a 20.25-inch screen when unfolded and a 15.3-inch screen when folded.
Considering that Apple does not currently have 20-inch MacBook and 15-inch iPad models, this claim seems interesting. The company, which has adopted larger screens on iPhones in recent years, can follow the same strategy for its foldable device.
According to a previous leak, Apple had started to negotiate with the company for the newly developed Gen 8.5 folding OLED panels by LG. One of the most important features of these panels was the elimination of wrinkles.
