Thailand has warned Meta about taking measures against crypto scams. This warning specifically applies to Facebook.
From Thailand to Meta
Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) has targeted Facebook. The ministry warned social media platforms focused on crypto scams. Thailand has demanded that crypto scams advertised on the platform be stopped. In addition, the Ministry announced that Facebook will be closed for use in the country if the necessary steps are not taken and the country’s government is not listened to.
In the statement on the ministry’s website, it was stated that fraudulent advertisements affected 200,000 people. Minister Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn has requested the court to shut down Facebook within a month if it does not comply with the warnings.
Facebook is known as one of the widely used social media platforms for the promotion of cryptocurrencies. Facebook has experienced similar problems before in Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission sued Meta.
