Tether, the issuer of USDT, one of the leading stablecoins in the cryptocurrency world, has decided to freeze cryptocurrency wallets associated with people on the US sanctions list. However, investigations revealed that most of these blocked wallets were empty.
Empty Wallets
In line with the decision taken by Tether, the majority of the 161 Ethereum wallets frozen did not contain any USDT. According to Etherscan data, only 11 of the blocked wallets contain USDT worth a total of $3.5 million. However, one of these wallets is associated with a past hacking attack on the Stake platform.
Wallet in the Foreground
The most striking detail among the 161 wallets blocked by Tether is in an address containing USDT worth $3.4 million. It is thought that this wallet may be linked to a hack attack on the Stake platform in the past.
Conclusion
The fact that most of the assets in other frozen addresses are empty indicates the remarkable dimensions of this decision taken by Tether.
