Altay Main Battle Tank developed by BMC finally got its engine. The engine procured from South Korea was integrated into the prototype of the Altay tank and tests began.
President of Defense Industry Prof., who attended the live broadcast on NTV yesterday. Dr. İsmail Demir said the following on the subject:
“We have integrated the power pack supplied from South Korea for the Altay Tank into our tank and the tests are continuing. The results of the tests are fine. We have also reached a place with South Korea regarding the mass production of the tank engine. We are close to the solution.”

. Engines and transmissions developed by Doosan and S&T Dynamics will be used for the first time in the serial production version of the Altay tank. According to the previous statements, as of 2024, the 1500 hp Batu power group, which will be produced locally and nationally by BMCPower, will be integrated into the Altay tank.
Batu power group features
Batu power group is 12 cylinder, V type, turbo diesel, water cooled and has a power rating of 1100 kW. It will produce at least 4600 Nm of torque. In addition to the engine, the power group includes a cooling package, air filtration system, exhaust and a transmission with steering and braking functions.
